drain plug

I want to change the trans fluid in my 97 f150 manual transmission.I'm wondering what size of wrench is needed for the drain and fill plugs. Thanks

1inch wrench and socket.

drain plug

I tried a 1" box end but too small , maybe it's metric.

I just went under my truck and the socket fit but not that great 1inch socket use some wd-40 and then use a adjustable wrench. I got that info from some guy on v6 f150.com he has this whole how-to on the change of the fluid. Sorry good luck.

The plug is such a shape that a crescent wrench will work just perfect. I have used it to change trans. fluid on my 97 every 15k and nary a problem.
