Thoughts about Comp Cams XE262 for 428 build

Just got off the phone with the Comp Cams tech line. I am building a 428 for my 72 F250 Crew. The build will be fairly stock (9 to 1 CR, factory intake, Autolite 4100, aftermarket cam, and headers).

Comp Cams recommended the XE262.

I am also considering the Crane 901 which looks pretty similar to the XE262.

Any thoughts or comments? Prior to talking with Comp Cams, I was thinking about something a little smaller (e.g. XE256 of DEH255).

first I think the 901 compares more to the 256 than the 262.....

I run a 262 in a 390....car pistons...CJ valves....600cfm carb..headers ....duals...C6....4.11's with 35" tires...2WD.....

The cam is everything I wanted...very streetable....idles great but you still know it's not stock....pulls hard from Idle to my self imposed 5000 rpm redline....throtlle response is excellent......chirps 2nd gear...I'm very happy with it....
