steering gearbox 99 150

in the last year i had whole new front end, uppers lowers tie etc also disc turned and new calipers. sometimes when i hit the brakes, not always, it vibrates very bad. it is not tire balance. while jacked up i have what i consider alot of movement from steering gear. Is this udjustable or needs replaced?
thanks

It may be able to be adjusted depending on how worn it is.
Most people recommend to just replace it.
Is your idler arm good? Brake rotors not warped?

ok, here goes. On top of the gear box kinda off to one side but in the middle there is a locking nut and set screw, back off the nut, 16mm, a few turns, note you may have to hold the set screw in place with an allen wrench while working with nut, tighten set screw a quarter turn at a time and retighten lock nut. Test drive and see if this helps. i had to attempt about 5 times but now everything is fine. It is much easier to jack truck up and put jack stand under to give you more room to work and it is done in about 1 minute on each attempt. hope this helps you. and the 2 to 3 hundred dollars is for the gearbox only, no labor figured in.
