Smile The Big Mig Test

Tested out my new Millermatic today and it worked very well. Welded in a donar floorboard from a 67' cab on the passengerside of old greeny. I ordered some new cab mounts from LMC so still waiting on them. They were $29.95 each american. Im not sure yet how much it will cost to ship them here and with the exchange rate and all. Oh well i guess i will find out sooner or later.

Millermatic is a good line of welding equipment, this is what I have and it`s been great. Much better than the Princess Auto line of welders according to my buddy that has a welder repair shop, he says they don`t last and are too hard to get parts for.
Let us know when the cab mounts arrive and what you think of the fit/ quality.

We've got a Lincoln, and even though its gettin up there in age, it still works good. Trigger on the stinger sticks every now and then, but thats the only issue. If only I could say that about our new plasma......

One minor gripe about the millermatic is if you set the gun down sometimes depending on how you set it down, it activates the trigger and spools out some line, not to mention wasting gas.I was thinking of Putting some sort of guard around it to prevent this. You would think miller would be aware of this incovenience?

Yeah every mig welder I have seen has the trigger area open, which does suck, but as soon as a guy gets used to it, its ok.

So whats that supposed to mean Drizzle lol ? Am i supposed to except their shortcomings !, I don't think so! If i had a quality product i would be constantly trying to better it then the competition. Just my 2$ cents worth.

Mine does the same and so does my Power Fist electric impact wrench. Both are very annoying and take along time to get used to this ''feature"..there has to be a better way I`m sure.

well for one thing if there was a cover around the trigger (like a gun) it would be very difficult to use when i have thick leather welding gloves on, i for one wouldnt like having to insert my finger in there every single time instead of just grabbing and going, just be careful when you set it down

I have finally learned to hang my gun up instead of laying it down being carefull to avoid the trigger. Still a big pain but with practice I mange to avoid the problem most of the time.

I usually buy my wire from Praxair in Regina. One time it ran out so I put on a roll of some stuff I bought on sale at Princess Auto and I could tell right away that it wasn't the same quality as I thought there was something wrong with my machine. It wasn't until I replaced that roll that I figured out the only problem was the wire. The funny thing is the regular price of wire at Praxair isn't bad.

It would be nice to have a MIG. All we have is an old Forney arc welder. It is good for making frame alterations.

I think I have read somewhere, that my mig can weld up to 1/2 inch metal. If that is true, thats not half bad!
