Which transmission fluid to use?

Can you guys tell me which transmission fluid I'm supposed to use in my truck? I have a 1992 Ford F150 4x4. I suppose its still the factory transmission.

Make sure it's NOT the Mercon V--you want the Mercon/Dexron, sometimes AKA Mercon III/Dexron. Mercon V is for the newer trannies, and could toast your older one.

AOD or E4OD, they both take the same. Don't let someone tell you anything other than what I put above. Type F is no good, either (that's for even older trannies).

I use the mobil 1 synthetic mercon. It is expensive at $5 a quart, but really does the job.
