Question Upper Intake Manifold Frozen on Engine

1989 F-250 302EFI 4x4
Am trying to remove upper intake manifold to replace gasket because of vacuum leaks.Think I am going to have to replace entire engine because I can not remove manifold.
On passenger side , center bolt under intake body is a torx head bolt the only torx bolt out of 6 upper intake mounting bolts. Can not get bolt to turn.
Question... is there a way to remove this bolt without the torx bit?
Have tried to remove it with #30 torx bit but it will not grip. There is little room under manifold to work and have been using manifold casing slot to reach bolt head with socket extension.
Any suggestions appreciated.

well ive been thinking about this and i see you still have no replys before i would replace the whole engine i would try to break the intake around the bolt some how and then beable to remove the in take and leave the bolt untill you get the intake off and then get a pair of vice grips on it and spin it out or maybe you can try to put a little heat on the head of the bolt from the sounds of ityou got quite the job on your hands good luck maybe some one elese might have a better idea can you drill it out with an easy out i dont really know how to help you out with this one but that is what i would do

I've had the similar problem with a 5.8 a couple of months ago. If I remember correctly, the torx bit is either a #40 or #45 but not sure. I attached the torx bit onto a 1/4" drive socket then to a 1/4" extension about 6" long. That is then attached to a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter to a 3/8" ratchet. I used black tape on the entire assembly to make sure I don't drop any pieces into hard to reach places and start cussing....again. I've tried using 3/8" drive directly but it's way to fat to reach the bottom. Also, try to clean out the bolt hole with an oring pick or brake clean spray to remove any debris that may pack into the hole and prevent your bit from making a good bite. I hope this helps before you destroy the upper manifold.

Typically it's intended to be turned from above the manifold, with a long-handled tool. There's a direct line-of-sight path through the manifold to do it.

I was lucky and managed to get mine off with a loose Allen wrench that I could turn from underneath it.

Uncle Junk, Mauicruza, and Dannyim appreciate the replies!
Mauicruza You are right it is a #40 TORX,just found out before reading your
reply. Gentleman named ssubford e-mailed me with info of where to find the
correct tool at either snap-on or a local hardware store called wESTLAKE.
Again Thanks to all three of you.
