A '97 454 is going to be a Vortec 7400, 290 h.p., 410 ft. lbs. of torque. An '85 460 4bbl. is 214 h.p., 362 ft. lbs.. Do the math..........

The winner will be the one with the most traction. Both engines have more than enough power to burn the dually tires smooth off. My guess would be the newer Chevy as they have a softer suspension than your older, bulletproof Ford. Both engines are major power makers and both have a decent reliability record. Engine to engine- I like the Ford better for a truck but the 454 makes a better boat engine conversion. Chain 'em up and post the video.

Which one has a posi rear? That'll be the winner. Also, put a load on 'em,fill 'em up and take off.Bet he runs out of gas first.454s suck in the mpg dept,at least a 460 will break into the double digits.

also didnt see the previose post but neither have posi that i am aware of he claims he does some times but ive ever seen it and ive road with him tons of times and i think mine has some sort of ls that never seams to work so there pretty much open idffs. also when we do pull and the slim chance that i lose im just gonna throw a 100 shot in it and give her hell till she dies cause it would be wothr it to shut him up.

everybody knows that "pulling" is no way to judge who has the more powerful truck.

how about drag racing? or throwing a 10k lbs trailer on the back and drag racing with that?

pulling is more of a competiotn between who has better traction and better driving ability during the pull.

Gotta love redneck drag racing ...use tow straps and wrap the bumpers together at the sound of the horn you both take off....yes you will have an advantage with yours being higher when you gun it his will lift up and add weight to yours ...been there done that and he shut up after ...75 Ford 4x4 460 vs 85 shove rolaids 4x4 with 454.

Even then its still gearing and weight playing major rolls in the outcome.

the only gearing thats different in this is the trannys both have 4.10 rears and i know mine outwieghs his according to the door stickers so i think this will be very interesting when it happens right now i have to wait to get my rear shock mount replaced and then we have to find a place so we dont get in any trouble

I don't think horsepower/tq numbers have a whole lot of say in this. They do, but only to a point. I put my 95 with a wore out 351 against my buddies 99 with the 350. He didn't have 4x4 but we did have the same rear end. I won by a longshot. Traction and height have a lot to do with it. Oh yea, and a little tip for ya. Let him be the first to take off and get the tires spinning. Once hes spinning, lay into the ol girl and you'll pull him all over hell!

A drag race would be much safer. Don't even have to go to a track and pay if you don't want to, just find a deserted road and be careful (not the best advice, but hey, its safer than what they're planning on doing.)

I would really advise against doing this, its very dangerous. IF/when the strap brakes its coming through the back window and it has the potential to KILL YOU. I've heard about whole trailer hitch assemblies flying through the window and taking the guys head off.

Not trying to be a downer, but I wouldn't want anything to happen to you guys over a stupid ford/chevy debate!

It depends on if you do it correctly. If you get a very very strong cable, or a very strong strap, and start the trucks off as far apart as possible, with good tension on the cable/strap, you should be alright. I'm not advising this, but thats the safest. Do not under any circumstances take off bumper and bumper until the cable catches tension, because thats when it would break.

when we do this it will be 4 or 5 tow straps and blankets over them to keep them from flying and hitting anyone or anything
