Has anyone done the Single or Dual rear wheel conversion of putting 225/19.5 rims and tires on in place of the standard wheels and tires on an F-350?

I am curious if the claims of tire life, handling, stability, and drivablity improvments are true. It is an expensive changeover on just hear say. A different truck is in my future and by looking at the tire ratings I may able to get by with a SRW F-350 converted to 19.5's as opposed to going with a DRW F-350. Any real input would be beneficial, thanks.

I put 19.5 on my crew cab dually F-350 (1974 model) it cost me about 2000.00 for the complete change over. This was 6 years ago or so and I average about 75,000 to 85,000 per set and the 14 ply rating on them make hauling heavy or towing a dream also when it is empty it is a nightmare of a ride. It bounces at every expansion strip on the road the ride is horrible.

One thing I noticed on their website, the tires are rated for big loads, but the wheels are only rated for 3500 pounds at best. I was only looking at the pre 99 Ford wheels though.

What good is a 6000 pound rated tire on a 3000 pound rated wheel?

 

Without looking at the truck specs, with 6-3500 lb wheels, that is 21000 lbs. GW possible on the truck alone, should still be fine?

I think the main objective is tire life and stability. I can justify the tire cost but the wheels, that's a tough one to explain the neat factor to the bookkeeper aka wife.

 

Its not 6 tires, at most its only 4.
