ford escape recall for accelerator sticking

My future wife has a 2002 escape 3.0 auto. she got a email saying that there is a recall for the 2002 to present Escapes. It says that when you let off the accelerator, the rpm's do not decrease. has anyone heard of the recall?

Thank You

Yes, there is a recall on the 2002 (I don’t know about any other year) Escapes accelerator cable. I purchased a 2002 about a month ago and went to a Ford dealer to get a new key and asked the same question. 1 recall is for the check engine light that comes on under 60,000 miles and the other for the cable.

Had it done about 2 months ago....mine was so bad it was like an "ON/Off" switch. You can go to Ford's website and see if your vehicle has had the recall done by entering your VIN number.

I need to get my '01 in as it does the same thing... Like Seteveofcourse said, the throttle is basically like an on and off switch... It's almost dangerous if you get on the gas in traffic and it immediately stops again, you hit your brakes but the engine still pulls you.

Also a recall for the same problem with the 2001.
