Clutch master cylinder removal

I have a 99 F250 SD. The clutch is not fully releasing when pushing on clutch. I read many of the post here and I'm in the process of putting in a pre-bleed clutch master/slave assembly. The new unit did not come with the metal push rod at the master. I was able to remove the slave unit from the bell housing, but can not fully remove the master end. The metal push rod is still connected to clutch petal and is keeping me from getting the master completing out. How does the metal push rod come out of the master? I tried pulling by hand but no luck so far. Any Tips?

The clutch rod is a one time install deal. You will need a new rod.

So there is no way to remove the push pin on the clutch master cylinder?

No I guess it's like Chinese finger torture. Stick it in and you can't get it out.

There are no books around on replacing a master cylinder in the area, and I'd prefer to try a DIY, any suggestion on bleeding the clutch line and replacing the master cylinder? I could hire a mechanic, though my truck is out far, money is tight, and I have a new Master Cylinder in the truck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I tried again to pull the old clutch master cylinder out, hoping to dis-engage the push rod. I ended up breaking the push rod. Planning to pick up a new push rod at the dealer.
