Question TorqShift Tranny Re-fill

I need to make my 60K ATF change in my '03 F-250 with a TorqShift tranny. I had the 30K change done the dealer while the warrenty was still in effect. How much AFT comes when I pull the drain plug and change the filter? Does anyone know the re-fill capacity?

I know that draining the pan on the tranny will not drain the cooler and torque converter. Any suggestions on draining these so I can change as much of the ATF as possible?

You really need a manual, jarmbrester. Did your truck not come with one? If not you need to contact your dealer.

The capacity is 17.1 quarts of Mercon ATF.
The 10.5 Sterling rear is 6.9 pints 75W140 SAE Synthetic - time for that too.

The Power steering is also Mercon ATF - time for that.

DRAIN PLUG?
honestly had no idea there was a drain plug....

dealer flush is the best way.....but it runs about 120-200 depending on which dealer you use.... and mercon sp is hella expensive...... i *think* i was told 5 bux a quart @ the stealership for just the fluid, and about 15 qts needed....

wow, 17 thats alot!

also, i read the sterling had "lifetime" lubricant, and never needs to be changed unless water comprimised, or opened for service.....now, the d60 front is a different story.....i think it was 100k tho....

The capacity is 17.5 and the fluid for the torqueshift is MERCRON SP ONLY. Don't even think about putting regular ATF in there. If your just draining the pan you'll get about 7 quarts out.

No worries man... just wanted to make sure he understood there is a difference between the Torqueshift and the 4R100 as far as the fluid.

If You Drain Pan And Replace Filter You Will Need 7 To 8 Quarts To Refill.

Thanks for all the replies. I have a manual and knew that the dry fill capacity is 17.5 quarts. Just didn't know much would drain out of the drain plug.

Did not know about the diff. I'll check the manual about it.

THANKS!
