I received this in an email, and I would about bet this is the group that called me about it, caught me way off guard and in the shop...sorry if I seemed out of it, not used to getting calls about the chapter out of the blue, but it is ok...
Dear Auto Enthusiast,
VEISHEA is excited to announce that they will be hosting their first Annual VEISHEA Car Show this year and would like to take this opportunity to invite you and other club members to participate. The event will be held on Iowa State University’s East Campus Parking Deck on April 22nd.
All cars will need to be checked in at the parking deck between 8:00 and 9:30 am on April 22nd. Parking for trailers and extra cars will be located at lot A4, which is jnorth of Jack Trice Stadium. Early check in is due to the VEISHEA Parade that starts at 10:40 am, so bring your lawn chairs to sit beside your vehicle and enjoy the parade. The judging will start at 1:30 pm and we will release vehicles at 4:00 pm.
All owners will receive a custom VEISHEA 2006 Car Show dash plaque and trophies will be issued to the top contestants of each class. There will also be a $75 cash prize for the car that is declared “Best in Show”. There is a $15 entry fee that can be paid by credit card or mailed with a check after registration.
The Car Show will consist of 23 classes, including antiques, classics, 4x2 and 4x4 trucks, street machines, and street rods. We are also looking for convertibles to carry dignitaries for the VEISHEA Parade. If you are interested in this, please check that box when you register online.
For more details and registration, please visit our website at www.veishea.iastate.edu/tournaments. We encourage you to do so in a timely manner as the car show has limited availability. Please pass this information on to other club members or other interested parties. If you have any questions, please e-mail tournaments at iastate.edu.
The VEISHEA 2006 theme is “Celebrate Iowa State” and will take place on the Iowa State Campus April 17-23. VEISHEA is one of the largest student-run celebrations in the nation. We hope to see you there. Please visit www.veishea.iastate.edu for more information about VEISHEA and the other events you can attend while you are here.
Sincerely,
Kyle Hayse Cody Jensen

I don't think they will let me spread my pieces across the lawn, bit I will be there in person. I am a bit disappointed at the lack of car shows in our area.
Ever been to the one out to Boone? Not the greatest several years ago, but it is a show... Then there is the Good Guys show in Des Moines around the 4th of July...

I haven't made it to the Boone one yet, partly becuase I can't stand that town, but partly because of my job. I am always busy when it is going on.
As for the Goodguys show, it just cost too darn much for me. Plus, I am a bit of a family guy and some of the things that go on there are not too family oriented. At least it was that way in Bakersfield, CA.
Haven't been to the Good Guys show myself, just know it is there, might be surprised if it went that way here in the Midwest, usualy a bit tamer around here. The one out to Boone isn't real big either, but I had actually been to it. I'm sure Des Moines has more shows though. Not much for shows around here either, but I'm not a real big car show person. I don't mind going, but not a big deal if I miss them either...

Every year those so-called "College Kids" get drunk and have a big riot there.
Last year was no exception. Big riot with lots of damage to area at VEISHEA.
Don't think thats the place anyone would want their hot-rod and get it damaged by a bunch of crazy, drunk kids running and causing trouble that don't give a ***** about others property..
NOT a good idea!!!! Every year tons of arrests are made there.
The riots occur at night on the campus down town area. I belive the carshow is in the afternoon away from downtown during the family events, and the parade.
There is a car show in Ogden, Iowa June 23 6-9 PM for Ogden Fun Days. They close off the whole main street just for the car show and usually have well close to 100 cars/trucks. I'll be there spectating only as the 78 crewcab is not done yet....some year I'll be showing it there!!! Hopefully some of you FTE guys will bring your trucks there.
Eric
