Talking 06 3v report

I just got back from a little rabbit hunting trip. Have 06 350 srw, cc, 4x4, with 430 rears, with 5000 miles on the speedo, hauling a 3800 lb slidein camper. The first 182 miles with lots of uphill pulling and curvy roads going from 400ft above sea level to 5500 ft and back down to 4000 to 4500ft, I averaged 10.2 miles to the gallon. I had the big BSEG big time on all the hard pulls, and I only pulled between 2300 and 3300 rpms because its only a 55mph roads, that i was running 60/65. The truck pulls better than my old 7.3 and is a lot more comfortable.

I have not had the V10 up in all my old hunting and camping areas in Oregon and Washington...but have had several long hard trips into tall mountains of Utah, Colorado, Arizona and managed to find similar narroe, switch back and extreemly steep up and down hill tracks... The SuperDuty with a 3v V10 is the most amazing machine I have ever owned... and yes better then my 7.3L diesel and whoops *** all over the 460CI gas guzzlers I had before getting the PSD.

I know EXACTLY what you are saying... any min now out friend Don AKA Wrench will chime in with very similar experiances...

RAH...send Ford a note telling them that they better keep the V10 in the line up or else!

yeah? maybe I can get one of those after I drop those tall 3.73's and go to 4.30's or 4.56's. I typically camp in higher elevations in the western mountains here in California and Utah. The 3.73's are tapping me out.

Right on Rah and Fred is right on the money like usual. Last year I did a trip with my Slide In Camper going up 8 % grades through the twisties and the V10 has amazing recovery after slowing down for corners. I was weighing 11000 pounds flying up the grades. Have done that trip many times with my 460 and 7.3s. The 3 valve V10 far outperforms those two engines and matched the performance of my 04 6.0 PSD .

I will be doing the same trip in a month with my Montana Fiver, 13 feet high and 6 tons of mass plus the truck should be around 8500 LB because I just bought a 60 gal transfer tank to give me a decent range. I 'll see how the V10 moves 10 tons uphill. Should be fun.
