Brake Dust????

I had my Vet Come to the farm to file my horses teeth. Anyway well he was there I always check out my future truck which is a 2001 4X4 pstd. I noticed that his front aluminum rims where kinda on the black side. Looked like oxidation. So I asked him what the heck is that. He said "Break Dust" Say what? he says the front wheels get overed in break dust.
Does anyone want to take a stab at explaining this one?

Yeah it is a VERY common problem on newer vehicles. Look at most newer vehicles (that people don't clean often) and look at the back rims (usually nice and clean) then look at the front rims. Notice how the front ones are dirtier? That's because most of the stopping is done by the front brakes.

You can get different pads to help that not happen but I have heard they don't stop the vehicle as good.

The only way that truck would see aluminum polish is if I find it parked and clean them.
this truck is pushing 300,000 klms though so I wouldnt call it new. But ty for the info.
