Edge owners: Tuning thread

Just reload any of the other 'stock' tunes, or pick one and customize to your hearts content.
If the timing is wrong, just go back into the performance tune you are running, change the timing values and everything again, and reload the tune.
I know the Edge has chosen the wrong gearing values on a few peoples trucks. Just change that value to what your truck has.

Thanks Rich..little confused!
The timing shows zeros 0.000 each time you visit this parameter..which tells me nothing about the previous tunes. in my case added 1 to the timimg then load ok!... next time added 1 and load ok!, assuming the program (which is level 3) already has the timing advanced by 1 from the first customization and the next load makes the total +2!? ... is this how it works? or each time I want to change somthing I start from the edge base tunes?
As for the the other parameters, they look wrong, the tiresize,, gear ration..I don't know if these are just examples or they are read from the stock PCM? and should reflect the right values!
Also the manual says you can load previous customizations, but can not find the option to do that.

Yes, the timing will show 0 because that is the baseline tune. For level 3, that is tuned to run 91 octane. If you are trying to run 95 octane, you would change the value in tune 3 from Zero, to +2 (for the four octane point raise). All of the other parameters are read from the Ford computer, so I am not sure why they are pulling wrong numbers. Have you updated the tuner from the internet? You might want to. Yes, you can save custom configurations...but I cant tell you how at the moment. I would have to read the manual.

Restore defaults will return the Edge to original settings. You don't need to do that though. All you will need to do is go back to custom tune and change the values you want to change. The same with gear ratio and tire size. Then it will have you shut the key off again and then turn it back on to change the values you just readjusted.

There is a BETA test version 20. Since it is only a test version, should we procede with this update or not?
Released on 06/10/2006
Added function to view version info by holding the down arrow during bootup.
Made minor modifications the Avg. MPG calculations to help improve accuracy.
Fixed issue where some 2005 model trucks are incorrectly identified as 2006.
Added contrast adjustment. Located under [Setup] -> [Display] -> [LCD Settings].

hp and tq
I am trying to decide between the hypertech and the edge and i was reading about both today and the hypretech said using 87 octane it would give 33 more hp and 55 more tq and with 93 octane it would give 48 more hp and 61 more tq and the edge says it will only give 25 hp and 35 tq so what i am asking is why i should go with the edge instead of the hypertech! I have read alot about the edge and it sounds like thats what i want but i also want what will give my truck the most!
this is the page i was reading about the hypertech if anyone is interested in reading!

Hypertech will give 48 and 61? On what, a top fuel dragster?? Those claims are ludicrous. One of the things that Hypertech is well known for, is not tuning in "the range". They have always touted numbers...but not streetable numbers. 48 horse power extra, great right? Only if you like keeping your motor at 8k rpm. They have always tuned their products for maximum top end power (clearly not where a truck operates). It is your buck though. I would suggest searching for those two keywords in this forum, and see which product has a larger following.

Guys, now after several days of using my Edge unit, there is a real improvement in the performance (most of the time!), now I am ready to see how it can help me with my real problem, which EDGE has help fixing a good a part of it!.
The monitoring feature of the unit is very good and honestly it is the main reason I bought Edge!. I need all the help to get me started with the following:
1-Tempruture ranges (specially the high numbers!) for EOT, ECT, TFT..I need to set alerts for these temps.
2-How can I use Edge to check operation of spark plugs, fuel system , transmission slipping or not, torque operations..what is really missing is the reference for the readings these counters giving us.
I already have temprarure readings but don't know how good or bad except some feeling EOT is high!?, and hope you can help make some interpretation based on these numbers..
EOT go up to 221F when speeding up to 70+ MPH
ECT go up to 200F same speed...
TFT go up to 186F
IAF go up to 166F
Torqu always zero
Fuel when driving remeber it was between 39 40 41
Many thanks

Hey 2004f150.... My numbers don't go that high even towing 7000 lbs in the mountains. I did see 220 EOT this weekend. It was 97deg outside, the AC was full blast , and I was climbing hills like you wouldn't believe. The ECT was 196 and the TFT was 170-180. I thought that I was high on all my readings but like I said I was towing 7000 lbs of trailer. Does anyone else have any input?

If you go to alerts you will seet the max is 230 for EOT?!..the rest are still way from the max..but hope that somone from Ford help us with these numbers..All we ask is what are the acceptable numbers for:
EOT
ECT
TFT
CHT
LPD
FRP
OSS
TSS
MAS
MASV
VCT
SPARK Avance
TQC
LOAD
BAT
Your numbers looks good under the circumstances!
Thanks
