Rear main seal

Ok I have a oil leak from the rear of the oil pan, its not bad just annoying. Is there a way to tell if its the rear main without dropping the oil pan? Also in the 95 351 is it a 1 or 2 peice seal? Thanks, Micah.

My 351 is a one piece. If you wipe it clean and run it for a bit you will see the origin.

You'll have to remove the transmission, clutch/torque convertor and flywheel. Get a screw(about a #8 sheet metal), drill an appropriate diameter hole in the face of the seal to thread the screw in. Take a pair of pliers, grip the screw and pull the seal out. Clean the mating surface good. Apply a thin coat of oil on the crankshaft flange and install the new seal. If it's the 2 piece, the the pan has to come off and the engine has to be lifted for that.
