More Turbo Pics..almost done...

Added a few more pics to the Turbo Project gallery. About 2 more weeks and it will be on the road. The motor has around 350hp alone. So adding the turbo (5-7psi)and having a 150 shot of nitrous should give it....well....I have no idea....anyone have guess? All I know is there is a very high possibility of getting this truck into the low 12's.

Any and all feed back is appreciated...

WOW, that is super sweet!

Nice burnout pics!

I'd say 12's are very possible even for a longbox

Is this a stanard 390 block? If so, you may be approaching the danger zone. The turbo probably gives you an additional 150-200hp and with the NOS you'd be approaching 650hp. My understanding is that regular FE blocks can start coming apart at those levels.

As for 12's: what does your truck weigh and what do you plan to do for traction?

Yea its a standard 390 block (+.040) making it around 397ci. As far as it coming apart, I had the block magnafluxed before hand and it had no cracks. I will not run the full 150 shot at first, I will start at 25 and add from there. As far as weight I have no idea its a long bed, I would like to know what it weighed from the factory. Since it shakes the the tires hard off the line I have been easy with it. I have coil-overs and four links ready to go in. Usually my reaction time will be around .650 to .700. The last run made at Little River was 13.02.

It must not weigh much. How in the heck did you get a 13.02?? I've been workin' hard to get to 13.5. I'm probably making 550hp now. My truck weighs in at 4500-4600 lbs

3/4 ton vs. 1/2 ton. Big tires vs. little. Big mirrors vs. little ones

I took off the big ears (mirrors) and I'm running 28x12.5" ET Street tires at the track. If his truck is 500 lbs less, that is supposed to translate to 5/10ths. Great, but he's currently making about 200 HP less than I am....

very frustrating....I just need to find that 67 Cougar to stuff this motor in....

LMAO Gregg!!!! Did you see the size of that fuel cell behind the 9-inch? My guess is that he filled the tank and nailed it from the start.

You admitted taking it easy on the launch: You felt it wise given the trucks limitations.
Good-n-nuff for me! Get the squirrels worked out and "hit it like you mean it". Or, you could just see what breaks next.

dont forget though I'm at 4100lbs, and yes the tank is full everytime. It hooks good but it has been known to shake the tires pretty hard. (((Oh and let me go on the record and appologize to everyone....the time slip shows 13.52, again I apologize. I didnt reply yesterday to gtex cuz I wanted to make sure the time slip was right....I feel like an @ss.

No problem..you should have left me thinking you ran a 13.02... I'd spend the next month trying to get there :-) I actually think my truck will run a low 13 after a few small changes and then getting the tires warmed up and launching HARD!

what was your MPH? your obviously making some HP.

When I ran 13.52 it was on a 150 shot of nitrous. I hit the button about 60ft out, and didnt let off until the. I cant use the NOS off the line because it shakes the tires, but I have coil overs on the bench and are designing my own four link. That should take care of the launch problems.

Speaking of launching problems with trucks, I have a friend who regular runs a truck. He has taken out the bottom spring leaf...it's the thickest one and provides the most lift support for carrying loads. He claims that this let's the back of the truck spring down more at launch, hence adding some down force to the tires and improving the launch characteristic of the truck. I don't know if it works or not but he claims he's done it for years and has proven it many times at the track. He has some type of helper spring deal that he bolts to the outside of the leaf package whenever he wants to carry a load....something that can be added or removed external to having to break down the leafs. I had planned on trying this myself to prove it but it doesn't look like I'm going to get any track time on my truck for awhile yet. At any rate, might me something to think about.

Good Luck!
