I guess my brake booster is going south. When pressing on the brake pedal half way down you can hear a vacuum sound. Is this normal? My guess is the brake booster is going bad. Any others with this truck hear this?

my brake booster did the same thing I replaced it and the brakes worked much better.(more assist)

 

Yep, replaced it today, it was leaking. Rebuilt it was only 60 bucks.

 

a friend's 95 f150, when he is on the freeway, has the idle go up when he steps on his brakes.

i told him i think his booster is leaking.

did your idle change in your truck when it was leaking?

 

I never noticed that on my truck but yes a vucuum leak in the booster could cause the idle to go up.

 

Yes the idle would up 200 or more rpms when on the brakes.
