02 f-150,it was wrecked.I replaced the airbags and seat belts because they were blown.Anyone know how to reset the light,or computer,I still have .5 volts at the seatbelts, scared to plug them in,kind of expensive item to be experimenting with.
After the air bags have blown off the restraint control module needs to be replaced. You can't clear the codes to turn the light off. The module is under the center of the dash behind the black plastic cover.
Well my air bag lites used to blink code then stay on so i had to replace air-bag cluster in steering wheel where horn is,it was not alot of money but not easy to do if you dont know alot about it

Your situation is a run-of-the mill failure of the clockspring/air bag and pretty much has nothing to do with the original poster's questions regarding a crash-deployed system....
