Glacier is quite a sight to see... now that I have a motorcycle and can actually afford to go places I might actually make it around the state.

If gas gets anymore expensive, I'm going to be riding a bicycle, much less a motorcycle. I sure wish I still had my 82 500XLR. What kind of bike did you get? Or did I miss a post somewhere? I saw that you'd gotten one, but you didn't say what it was.
I see Roger must not have checked his PMs this morning, but thats ok too... I got called in to work for part of the day. So he best call and we can make late afternoon or evening plans. Maybe dinner at the Chinese place... borgasmord!!!!

I was just reading all the posts about Glacier and it took me back to when I was a college student working customs at Carway, Alberta (just on the east edge of the parks). I spent alot of free time in both Glacier and Waterton Parks taking in the sites, two of the best parks I have been too for site seeing and natural beauty. Spent a few afternoons in the Baab bar, that was quite an experience. Had a lot of good times the summer I spent down there.

Ahhh yes..the world famous Baab Bar. Met an old Indian buddy coming outta the bar one afternoon, with a 6 pack under his arm. I asked him what he ws up to and he told me.." Came down and got a 6 pack for the wife". I said," Good trade?" He nodded, we both laughed and away he went.

Not really... but the Baab Bar is one heck of a place. Glad I don't drink anymore. A friend of mine lives in St.Mary. He's head of park maintenance on the east side. Big bucks, easy retirement. Sigh. Just think.... if I'd kept working for the park service, I'd be still cleaning toilets, dumping trash and bouncing up and down the North Fork road all day. Arghhh... not a good thought. I do, however, wish I'd never injured my back up there. It wasn't really that bad a job, but by season's end, I was definitely ready to move back to town.

Glacier...gotta love the beauty of the mountains...needa make me a trip up there this summer, now that i have a fuel-efficient vehicle to drive...i just recently received a 1985 honda prelude from my grandmother, as it is now too hard for her to get in and out of the vehicle...i hope i can put it to good use while i have it....i think i can...

Ah yes the Baab bar, the first place I was in that used tree stumps for tables and had a dirt floor for easy cleanup.

Dick, I picked up an '81 Honda CX500 a week ago for $1000, probably more than they sold for new... Its a blast to ride and just sips the fuel. I went 73 miles on 2.3 gallons... I get about 13 MPG in the truck, so this thing will pay for itself it relatively short order.

I see an XL600 or 650r in the paper here but they want $3200 for it. I'd love to get it...they get around 50mpg on one cylinder. At least my 500 did. Sounds like you got a pretty nice bike. Just keep yopur eyes out on the side streets ... people are blind to motorcycles...at least a large number are.

As for the meet.... we all got together, me, Tim, Felroe and family. We went to a local Chinese buffet and porked out...and talked for a couple hours or better. It's really good to meet some of the people you've chatted with on these boards. I felt like I was a part of the family when we parted and they headed south for Missoula. Nice folks...really nice folks.

Hey you guys.. Tim, Felroe... pm me or email me so I can send you that program I told you about. The wincleaner. You'll love it.

Yep, the meeting went well, my parents enjoyed it as well as I did. It was nice to catch up with you, hope to do it again someday. If for some insane reason you head this way, I'll have to show you around... until then, have to see when I can make it back your way. I'll drop you a message here in a minute for the email...

i'm toying with the idea of finding a bike, in addition to my prelude, as i'm starting to get a lil green with jealousy over my friends that have bikes...i think it'd be cool to go riding with them...my one buddy has a 2003 gsxr 750....he said he averages well over 40 mpg w/ it, so he can go a long while on a few bucks...sounds to me like a good way to go about it, if you ask me...anyway, i'll post more later...take care...
