Lightbulb Keyless Entry Programming

Hi All,

I wanted to post this to hopefully help with confusion on programming Keyless entry KEY FOBS. I have a 2002 F-250 PS CC Lariet. The Dealer coule not get it to program. I fiddled with it for a while and discovered some things that they did wrong so here goes the steps to programming.

1. Walk up to your Vehicle keys in your hand.
2. If doors are locked, unlock them (with a key of coarse)
3. Get in the vehicle
4. **Important Step** Shut the door
5. Place keys in Ignition and prepare yourself mentally.
*****Cliff Note******
-----Follow steps above. Do not start the vehicle or attempt from immediate -----shut down of engine. It will not program if you just shut the truck off.....
6.With in ten seconds(one thousand one, one thousand two, etc.) Starting in
the off position turn the key on and off 8 times ending in the ON position.
7.You will hear the door locks, lock and then unlock.
8.Press the lock or unlock button on the remote.
9. Doors will lock and unlock again
10.Turn ignition key off
11.Get out of the truck immediately grab a cold beer and enjoy pushing the newly programmed keyless entry KEY FOB.

Hope this Helps,

Make it a great Day.

Ford tried to standardize the various keyless entry transmitters across all models. For a while, one part number covered severything from Super Duties to Mazda 626s.

Good Stuff. Here's a few extra should know's about programming the remote(s).
1. Don't mistake the "LOCK" position on the ignition switch with "OFF". OFF is one position up from the LOCK position, which is the position the switch was in when you inserted your key.
2. Be sure that when you get in the vehicle you hit the unlock button on the driver's door.
3. You have to have ALL of the key fobs with you when you add a remote. If you just try to add one, all the others will be deleted from the system. So you need to re-program all of the remotes in the same program mode one after the other.
4. On '03-'04 SD's, it doesn't matter whether the door is open or closed, it will go into program mode either way.

Mine is a 99 F250. The instructions are in the owners manual. Key on/off/on 5 times for RKE, 8 times for RKE with alarm. Manual also states door open.

OK, I may be stupid, but I have a 2000 and mine locks/unlocks after the 5 on offs. But when I push a button on my 2 new remotes nothing happens, and even when I push it on my current remote nothing happens (I think the locks are supposed to lock/unlock to confirm the remote has been programmed). I can't get the new ones to work? My manual says on/off 8 times as well. Any help would be great as I am truly frustrated on what should be such a simple thing
