Cat-back exhaust for 05 F250 5.4L

Hi,

I'm looking to get a cat-back exhaust for my 05 F250 with the 5.4. Anybody have any suggestions - I'm not sure where to start looking. I know I want something louder than stock but not obnoxious.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Angelo

I put a Magnaflow catback on my 89' f250 (460). And one on my wifes exped as stated in another post. Mine on my truck cost 300$ but unlike my wifes i came out
in front of my rear wheel. I also got a free 4" dia 14" long stainless tip to boot.

You don't really need a cat-back. Just buy a muffler of your choice and have it installed. Magnaflow's and Flowmaster are popular with the V8. Check summitracing.com

I agree with V10man, unless you want duals then a muffler swap is just fine and just about any muffler will sound good with the 5.4l.
Flowmaster 50 series or Magnaflow w/18" case would give a nice growl without being too loud.

yes, dont waste the $$ on a catback....that pipe thats on there is plenty big, i think its 3"? you dont need any more than that....just pick your muffler of choice and throw it on there, it will sound great

Sounds good - I have no problem with not spending extra $$. I need them to tank up with...

I had flowmasters on my mustang...maybe I'll start there.

Thanks all for the input,
Angelo

5.4 Muffler

I came to the same conclusion, to just change the muffler on my 06. I have an F-250 and it looks like 3" in and out/offset inlet and outlet might line up best...any suggestions? I see Flowmaster makes one like that.

Flowmasters sound great on the 5.4l...
My Dad has the 40 series on stock pipes and I love the way it sounds. Its a bit on the loud side though... the 50 series might be better if you don't want it too loud.

I put a 50 series on my 05 f250 5.4 and it sounds great! I went with the 3" center to center and turned it sideways and welded 7" piece of pipe in and it hides the muffler up under the truck more than the offset setup. The truck was straight piped for two weeks and it sounded great also, but it lost a little of the bottom end! The cheap way out is put the 50 in. I payed 800.00 for a borla cat back for my 04' and it sucked!
