I just noticed tonight that the drivers side signal light is out on the Expy. It is the later model on the outside of the mirror. My question is how hard is it to get to in order to change the bulb. It only lasted 2.5 years, as the original mirror was kindly removed a week after we bought the truck by some a@@$%%$ who crossed the center line. If it is too difficult it will just have to remain out for a while, as I am not willing to take it to the dealer to have it fixed after they just raped me working on my wifes focus. Thanks, Dan

 

You mean I am the only one who has had a bulb go out...Darn the luck. Edison must have made the bulbs in everyone else's trucks.

 

If you are talking about the mirror with the red lens on outside edge of housing do the following. Tilt the mirror glass all the way down, look inside between the back of mirror and top of housing. There are 2 silver tabs, with a thin screw driver pry the front of the tab down some while pulling the plastic housing off ( the colored portion on my 01 EB ) you have to get each tab to unlock then the front housing of the mirror will come off and you have access to the bulb. It is a common bulb that any auto parts store will have ( #521 maybe ) If you search this sight there are some threads that may describe the process better, or go to Muth mirror website http://www.kwmuth.com/techsupport/pdfs/21000360.pdf and they have some instructions at replcing the glass that may show the clips.

 

That is exactly what I am talking about, thanks scholzee. I figured it was not too difficult but I could not find any screws anywhere on the outside of the mirror.

Usually the driver door gets openned and closed at least 2x as often as the other doors especially if you drive alone. So there is that added vibration from the door openning and closing more often so I guess that blub could have a shorter life due to that.
