I'm in the same boat, Curtis. I have a very sweat 77 shorbox 4x4 but in dire needs of a box. I've been fortunate where i live to find very nice cabs, front clips and a one very nice long box. But those shorty's, there tough. So, Im looking to.
Good luck and Merry Christmas to all.

Guys, it sounds like you need to setup a group of truck enthusiasts to look for shortbeds in neighboring states. Maybe even start swapping parts between fellow enthusiasts? I have seen quite a few posts looking for parts. I don't suppose anyone has a directory of salvage yard websites. Good luck.

[font color=red size=3]Have you considered a early 80's flareside box? I have heard of a few guys putting those boxes on their 70's Fords, I think it looks good, I like the boxy fenders. Like this one:

I don't know if this will help, but it looks like you have to e-mail them to find out. Here it is anyway: http://www.northernclassictrucks.com/beds.htm
They claim they have '73-'79 beds. I don't know if that includes the straight sided 6' or not. Good luck, and Happy Holidays!

Pretty nice truck you got there 73custom, looks exactly like the one I have sitting in my driveway, same color and all. Shortbed also but lacking the bed, im in the same positions as everyone else here. Thinking about cutting a longbed down that i have sittin in my yard, my dad had mentioned it a few times. But if anyone has a shortbox in PA or the surrounding states i would be glad to take it off your hands. Thanks,
Mike

short bed
I have been trying to solve this problem for quite some time now. Although my bed is pretty decent except for the drivers side bedside which is what i have been trying to find. The aftermarket has a large abundance of longbed parts and sides. But I hope due to the increasing demand of shortbox parts somebody will start producing parts again. Factory would be nice but Ford is all out. I have tried more than once. Although back on the subject of flaresides boxes which I have considered but am not sure of, you can basically get a new one from Autokrafters, or Obsolete Ford. The only problem is they average about $2500 without fenders. Those are another $200 (new).
