Does anyone out there have an 8-11 horsepower briggs for my lawn tractor I have an 11 but it doesn't run and I have just given up on it.
It has a 1 inch diameter crankshaft on it.

I also reconmend Princess Auto. Last year the 6 hp B/S engine on our rotor tiller finally died ( '82). Asked a B/S dealer and they said they didn't make a 6 hp engine with a 3/4" shaft anymore. Went to Princess Auto and they had a 6.5 HP B/S in the surplus with a 3/4" shaft. The only thing we had to do is get different bolts (coarse to fine) and it bolted right up. It's an OHV one too.

Yeah my riding mower 10.5 went last year. It was a Tumcesh. I got a B/S 10hp new from Youngs engine repair out here. It was cheaper than the places in the city. It cost me about $750.00. The old motor I gave to a friends dad to play with. He likes to work on lawnmowers, but usually not riding mowers.

Hi mercury man and welcome. Is it vertical or horizontal crankshaft? A friend calls them Briggs and Scrap iron.

On our mower back home we had a briggs and replaced it with a honda. Second best mower move we ever made! First best mower move we made was selling that mower and replacing it with a john deere. Nothing runs like a deere

If anybody has a Tecumseh 7hp. horizontal connecting rod. I had my connecting rod shatter on me last fall. I was planning on bringing it to the Monster truck show in Saskamatoon for Feburary. (without a connecting rod a pushmower would even own me in a race)

As a spectator only. It was sad on Saturday, all the tuff trucks were Ford execpt two Jeeps and one Chevrolet. The Chevrolet had the fastest time. The secound place 1987-91 Ford 1/2 ton did the secound fastest time with the hood flung up over the Windshield for half the race.

It is a vertical shaft engine. I went to peavey mart and the 8's were $448, I called lambert's distibuting and they were $672 it also has electric start but I can manage the old fashioned way

For $224 less I would go that way as well, an 11 hp isn`t too hard to start by hand.

I love electric start but I also love money, for 224 bucks I would start it by hand too.

Thats what happened to my riding mower also. It was eletric start and now I have the hand start. It needs the choke adjusted better to help with the starting. You can buy the hand start and change the in over to electric. Just a pain to take off the flywheel to put on the other mower so I left it off.
eventully will get a bigger unit where it can have a rototiller on it for doing the garden areas.

I was borrowing a snowblower the other day and it had a plug in electric starter. First one I have ever used but sure was handy. Only bad part was running the cord.

That's all I've used on my riding. I like the wind up even it may take longer, but you can pull'em faster so they usually start first time.
