What's a good price to pay for a hiboy? The ones I've seen are between $1200 and $3500.

Hiboy

Too open ended a question, do you want one as a daily driver, as a resto. project, a driver that needs TLC? As a starting point for a project, I'd say $1500 is fair. As a daily driver ready to go, I'd say $5000.

Let me rephrase that. I want a truck that drives good and that I can restore with out putting to much money in to it.

I gave 1,300 for my 73 F250 4X4 and it had a running but tired 360 in it, good headers, Edel intake, Holley carb, usable 33" tires, good body (except door).
I was very happy to get it, and would have paid more.

For a good one, needing little work, strong drive train, I'd pay about $3,000

Bad drivetrains are a cureable condition, but body rust may kill the truck. Price depends on condition, options, etc.. I like original, loaded trucks, would pay accordingly, if I was looking for a 4x4.I guess it depends on if you like it, then everything else is relative.....

I'd say you're looking at $3000 for a truck with decent body, and drivetrain solid enough to drive with some confidence.

Hiboy

I have a 74 250 Hiboy that I got lucky with (laughing) and did not pay a dime for except for trading an afternoon of tree cutting for it. It was in bad shape bodywise, I could watch the front wheel turning from the seat but it had a strong 390 in it. I found a 74 150 2 wheel drive that had sat in a shed for over 10 years and I swapped the bodys with little trouble and while I was at it I rebuilt the motor, trans, and put new bearings in the transfer case. I also put a front axle out of a 79 with disk brakes in it. I would not sell it know for what I would probably get for it but I can not beat it for a tough old truck and for pulling my gooseneck trailer. P.S. I have never got stuck with it either. Back to your ? if it is in decent shape it should be worth at least 3 grand. Greg NE
