traded out the BII for an Explorer

Well, I liked the BII a lot, but it was time to trade up. I picked up a '98 Explorer XLT 4x4 today, it's got the 4.0 SOHC w/automatic trans.

It has the axle code D4 on the door, what axle would that be?

I posted a photo of it in my gallery.

This Explorer fits my needs a lot better than the BII did, although a part of me is sad to see it go. I just had to post my new ride!

Brian, congrats on the new ride, very sharp Explorer. Green is one of my favorite colors on these Exes, (mine is Wedgewood Blue). I also had an 84 BII, and went to a 2000 Sport. Explorers have much more room.

D4 is a limited slip 3.73 diff. Good all around gear, should be excellent in snow.

Thanks, that's the one I was hoping for.

Does anyone know what auto trans they put in these? I'm guessing 4R70W.

Is there anywhere I could get an owners manual for one of these? The previous owner apparently felt they needed it more than me.

With a V6 drivetrain, you'll either have a 4R55E (4speed) or 5R55E (5 speed) automatic. The 4R70W was used in the 5.0 drivetrain.
