Premium fuel label on Instrument Cluster?
Do you not have a label that says "Premium Fuel Only" on your instrument cluster bezel. I have a 2003 Harley that has this just under the fuel gauge.
Maybe the "L" doesn't have this?
I also live in Canada so maybe Ford thought we were mentally challenged here and put some extra stickers on the dash. It is right on the gauge face. I am surprised it is not in French as well.
Would be interested in knowing if it says that on your dash.
Oh by the way, just filled up with Sunoco Gold 94 octane today at $1.10 / litre or approx. $4.30 / US gallon. It costs me about $88.00 to fill up the tank. That will get me about 350KM / tank or approx. 200 miles. SWEET !!! So I make it a point to smoke as many Chevy's and Chyrco's as possible to make it all worth while.
Cheers,

ok, sorry to upset you maurader, and the late post is 'cause I took a vacation.
I actually had heard my dad mention that an old engine with a lot of carbon buildup would pre- detonate, and I'm sorry for the bad info on the valves. I guess I thought that the sound justified the theory, but in the end I was dead wrong. I kinda wanted to know what caused the problem, and I only thought of it in the terms of fuel igniting b4 the engine came to top dead center, and thus being lit by the spark plug. I had no idea that there were two types of pre-detonation, one fighting the engine's motion, the other simply igniting the fuel in two places. Overall this has been an enlightening post. So to recap, didn't mean to call you out marauder, just wanted more explanation, got if from mustang first, so thanked him first, Bdox, thanks for the further info.

ok, in 14 you mentioned that pre detonation is the gas igniting twice. I already knew that. I did not know what caused the damage resulting thereof and the cause of the double ignition. This is the reason that I gave you no mention for explanation because what you said I already knew. I apologize as while you did give info I already knew it was good info.
