moving to SW USA info

i posted this on the gerneral info thread and some suggested posting here also.

hello, i am trying to get as much info regarding relocating out to the southwest US, mainly arizona or new mexico.

my mom is selling her house down in florida and wanting to move out to the southwest area, she is taking a vacation out there next month to look around.

mainly the question is, whats the best place? of course thats a broad base question, more specifically, she is not retired, still in the work force. i read about the prescot/scotsdale area and trying to get a figure on the cost of living prices out there.

i tried finding some real info on new mexico, but all i run across are promotions and such.

so mainly, what would be the suggested good place for her to look around at? i know housing prices are going through the roof out there, but i know there should be a few good spots left in decent neighborhoods, living rural is not out of the question either.

thank you.

prescot/scottsdale is pretty expensive, move more twards pheonix and it gets a little cheaper Tucson is cheaper yet and still a nice community but the housing market is booming here. The housing prices have gone through the roof. Crime is a problem here too.

I live in Mesa and am trying to get the wife to move to another State. With me of course. Home prices increased as much as 50% last year so real estate taxes will follow, they want to raise the sales tax again, roads are crowded, pollution alerts are frequent to name a few reasons I want out. I don't know anything about N.M. but if it was my Mom I would suggest she start there........ IMO...
