New Toy!!!
Congratulate me, my friends - for I have SCORED!
'90 Ranger deuce added to the stable today, weatherstrip intact, EFI, four cylinder with a five speed, good clutch and well maintained by an older and picky owner who believes in frequent oil changes. The coolant system is tight, and holds pressure (the other thing I look for). Gearing is long legged - I was advised that it will drop back to 2100 RPM at 75 in the fifth gear.
By God - even the air conditioner works!
$1800.oo, cash on the barrelhead from a fellow retired military guy.

She'll become cherry - piece by piece. And very much stock all the way.
I see no reason to make a rocket truck out of one I specifically got to combat rising fuel prices...
The first modification (and likely the only) will be a WINK five pane mirror.
Although on second thought - when I part out my Taurus wagon, I believe the rims from it (which are alloy) will fit this trucks lug pattern.
My dream is real:

Hey Larry - good to hear from you, brother!
Yeah, the guy was an AF master seargeant, and tinkers in his spare time. I think I will get to know him, as he says the chiefs used to come out to his place and drink beer "unobserved"....
That "correctness" thing....
Seems like if you go to the chiefs club too much - they rat you out....
I'm glad I didn't go there in my career.
