Question Is LED Tail lights etc expensive

I'am building a new dumping flatdeck for my 95 F-450 and I'am thinking about going to LED lights from Grote as they are the common brand here.

I'am going to use the 4" rubber mounted lights for the stop and turn and rectangle lights for the clearance. I never bought LED lights I'am I in for a big expensive surprise ?

The LEDs do last longer they are brighter and look nicer and burn less juice.

Yes they cost quite a bit more than the conventional oval and round grommet mount like the PM Peterson Manufacturing lights. They are kinda cool, but I don't think it is worth it. To put it in perspective, the conventional little 1 inch running lights are about 2-3 bucks. The same thing in an LED is anywhere from 10 or more dollars. I havent really priced them, but I remember seeing the larger ones and they werent cheap.

yes, led lights are more expensive, but consider the fact that led's will, if you put constant power to them, last 100k hours before they start to burn out. led's are also not sensitive to vibration either. i would go with the led's. incandesent lights are cheaper initially, but in the long run, after you factor in the cost of the bulbs, and the time to replace them, incandesent lights come out more expensive.

I was wondering where my thread went to sorry for putting it in the wrong forum.

Right now I get the regular 4" round Grote incadesent bulbs they are a sealed unit for 20 dollars each they are not cheap. I can imagine what a LED in the same configuration is going to cost.

Check around on line and look for a Truck-lite dealer. You can buy Signal Stat (now owned by Truck-Lite)4" LED tail lights for about $15.00 and the 2" side lights in LED for about $8.00. If you have any problems finding them just PM me. The incandesent 4" tail light kit, (light, grommet, and pig tail) is only around $7.00. I hope this help.
Part numbers
4" LED tail light
4050
2" LED round side lights
3050
3050A

I forgot to mention one of the main reasons I would not use LED lighting. That is that I have seen tons of them that have 1 or 2 LEDs that are burnt out and then the light doesn't look right. I don't like that at all. If you really want them though that is up to you, so go ahead and get them. They do look kinda cool and they also pull less current. Those are bonuses.

Try using truck-lite products, and searching for them on Ebay. There are guys out there that sell truck-lite products for much less than they'd cost you at a store.

There's the 6" oval rubber grommet-mounted stop/turn/tail light... it's the truck-lite model 60. I got a pair of them for $35 shipped.
