went into limp mode in drive

Driving home today my truck went into limp mode with check engine light. I kicked it into neutral and the problem stopped temporarily. When I went into drive it limped again. Could this be fuel gelling? Or another problem?

I doubt if it is the fuel. Have you checked the codes? Is the OD light blinking?

Cool

Well after sucking it up and bringing it to my local mechanic. It turns out to be the dreaded CPS. I thought they just made the truck die suddenly, mine made my truck go into limp mode! I just replaced the CPS 20,000 miles ago....what a crappy part! Live and learn.

I carry a spare in each truck. I think there is another one that is better. Made by IH. For the later models but supposed to work on the OBS too. Part #1807339C92. Don't know how much they cost, but I am going to try them next time one goes.
