Settle my bet!

Hi Everyone,

I have a bet to settle well its not really a bet more like a raging argument. I was talking to my Dad on the phone the other night and we got to talking about trucks. I told him that I was thinking about buying a '96 Ford F-150 w/ a 300-I6 and there great little torque monsters. At that point he started to claim his '83 Chevy (bad word) K2500 4x4 5.7 litre produces 250hp. Now, it was rebuilt in the mid 90's but not performance just a plain rebuild. Its bone stock. I looked it up and I discovered it produces 165hp, which number is more correct? Heres what I discovered:

1996 F-150 300-I6: 150hp@3600rpm and 265ft-lbs@2000rpm.
1983 K2500 5.7 litre: 165hp@ ???? and torque unknown.

Is my research correct and fairly accurate?

Cheers,
Evs

Your probobly right. The 350's in the 1994 C/K series had 190h.p. & 300 ft lbs. I'd bet money his 350 doesnt even have 200 h.p. Not too many engines back then made any power.

Your 300 specs are correct.

"6 in a row makes it go"

I like that it would make an excellent bumper sticker.

You could have passed as your own. I love the fact that the 300-I6 is a tractor motor. My sister and girlfriend both learned to drive "stick" on my 89' 300-6 4 speed, even of a hill first gear drop the clutch and you roll right along.

Yea they have lots of torque. I hve the 420 diesel in mine, drop the clutch and you'll need new rear tires.
