4R70 Rebuild advice please

. I have a 1994 F150 2WD with 4R70 trans that I just replaced the 302 with a 347 stroker which should dyno at around 350 hp. The trans has 163,000 miles on it and works fine and has an aftermarket street/strip valve body. Due to the mileage and increased HP/torque I'm worried the trans won't hold up, also leaks from several places. I would like to have it rebuilt before it fails so I can keep the valve body and cooler/lines and such. The truck is a street truck and only occasional hauling. I would like the internals beefed up to withstand at least 400 hp. There's a lot of rebuild kits out there claiming to be the best. Is there one that is deemed superior? Also, I'm thinking it might be a good time to replace the TC. While the truck is not a race truck, it will see a lot of spirited street driving and I would like the new converter to be better suited to that. What stall would should I be looking at?

Thanks in advance, Rick

What are the specs on the cam you put in the engine? That will determine what the most suitable stall speed would be. I can't give you any advice further than that, without knowing.

That’s a really mild cam for a 347.

I don’t think you would need any more stall speed than a stock converter. JMO

Going to a high stall converter isn't going to gain you anything with that cam. The powerband on it is published at 1200-5200 RPM. If you *wanted* to go to something "Heavy Duty" you could look at something like https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ape-26550 Which is reportedly a stock stall speed, with beefier internal components. Note, I have no personal knowledge of this brand, or if it's worth a darn. Just what I came up with on a quick search for Heavy Duty converters for a 4R70W.

Thanks for the replies fellas, appreciate it. So I'll stick with the stock stall, but should I replace the 162,000 mile stock unit or wait until it fails and then replace it?

Potato/Potato? If it hasn't been giving you any issues, it's likely fine. But on the other hand, you could put it back in, and it blows up. I have no clue.

Hello
SOS
i have a mustang of 94 and when i go into 4 gears a few miles and go tcc, if i turn off the OD it also closes at 1,2,3. So the converter and tcc valve are good. Only 4 steps to unlock obd code 628
