Welcome to FTE!!!

Thread moved to the 94.5-97 PSD forum
I think you will find some users are concerned about the potential of dusting the turbo with the K&N

IMO... IMO!!! i think K&N sucks at filtration. but dont freak out thats my opinion! they are a great flowing air filter{if you can call it an air filter} but i bought 1 for my 79 ford f-250 and had dirt cloggin up my carb so i went and bought the cheapest filter they had a B2B and it filtered better. same with my quad, i was ridding in dusty conditions and my air boot was filled with dust. so i went and got another. it helped greatly but i still go dust.

but as far as K&N i guess if you oil them REALLY REALLY GOOD!{I MEAN REALLY GOOD} at least 1 time a month you should be ok if your not doing any off roading on old back roads that are dusty.
and as far as gas milage.... it will improve MPG and your turbo whistle will be louder. my suggestion would be to get ridd of that stock air box and make your own intake. if you look back a few pages of these fours there will be a topic called cold air intake? read that and it will give you all the info you need to make it. i did it and loved it, also got better MPG.
hope this helps
Mitch

I got a 96 PSD and i took the air box completely off, and put a HUGE Air filter on the intake system. I used a piece of 4" elbow steel pipe to connect it to the cold air intake. Now i get waaay more mileage and about 20 more hp. The reaction time and acceleration is way better. Plus a added treat....IMO.... is the turbo is louder so now everybody knows i am coming down the road Just a thought.

Yea, just the intake, i didn't touch anything else in that respect, the exhaust is custom too, but that is a different story
I think it improved mine at least 1 mpg. But the power increase was tremendous

Hope this helped

My truck had a K&N airfilter in the stock box when I bought it, it seems to work fine with no dust evident in the intake pipe. However I will upgrade to the Tymar or a Kwick filter soon, mostly because of all of the good stuff I have heard about them. Better filtering, more airflow, more turbo noise, and it looks better...
