Mystery oil? / #8 missfire / Plug change

Working on a #8 missfire. Changed out the plug(s) (orig. 112,000 mi.) The sides of the hole were a little wet with a reddish color oil. Looked like tranny fluid / steering fluid. I was expecting the plug to be wetter with unburned fuel than it was. It didn't seem to be wet at all (however tha plugs are totally toast. Just this oily stuff on the side of my socket w/no real sign of a leak in the area.
Any clues?
Also I seem to be hung up on #7 getting to the COP hold down bolt. What do I need to pull off to get at it? I think when I can get on it it will need small vice grips cause 7mm seems to be spinning on it.
Lastly is the gap .054?

Thanks.

Is it possible that the tranny oil spilled down the hole while it was being topped off? I pump my tranny fluid out every 30k miles and replace it with fresh. I have had some spill in that area before, it's definately not out of the scope of normal possibilities.
