1962 Ford M151 Pre Runner mods info...LONG

Ok here is most of the general lay out and building plans for the mods and conversion.

1. M151 Uni body conversion to body tub

As the work has been moving forward I have posted pictures of the M151 in break down, power pack pull, IFS and IRS removed.

Now complete the body work has begun to make the uni body into a regular body tub found on any other Jeep style vehicle from WWII to present.

The uni body tub has had the original uni frame modified for mounting and bolting to a solid frame from a late 1970's Bronco II.

Nearly identical in length and width the Broco II frame is ideal for the project.

Staying with all FORD parts was of up most importance as Nate and I are part of Ford Racing.

The Bronco frame allows for us to use the more modern stearing colum as well as the front IFS that is much eiser to find modification parts for then having to modify a 45 year old set of IFS that are part of the original vehicle.

The front IFS will be modified to the highest possible permormace standars.

The uni frame now converted to a sub frame will be tied into the solid frame of the Broco II by a design I created in the shop called a WELD LIFT SUPPORT.

A weld lift support enhances the strength of both frames as well as enhance vehicle stability allowing for a baby craddle effect on the design all weight and vibration is funneled in and down and out.

Also the WLS sheds vibrationfrom the solid frame and into the sub frame where it just floats into open space allowing for a quiet smooth ride.

A wonderful support system creation that fears well over rough terrain at high speeds and heavy rock crawling both.

This also allows us to mount the 4.0 Ford Engine onto the original wire harness and computer. We have since pulled the 2.9 and have a adapted electrical kit for a Ford 5.0 as well. Now it is all about Ford racing parts and Edelbrock to finish the two
engines.

Nate and I also designed and created a new pin bolt and lock system for the suspension and the power pack.

With one large steel pin per mount and one holed nut and larger engine mount bolt rods we can loosen the nuts, pull the pins on all the magor engine and power pack componets mounted and just un clip the wire harnees and pull a whole engine and or power fack in about ten minutes and drop another in just as quickly.

The suspension is also designed with seprete mounting plates to allow for IFS and IRS from a 1985 M998 HUMWV for rock crawling.

Then for the race we can mount in a solid axle for rear suspension stability and leave the IFS intact.

A measuring tape and lots of cirlces around the frame drew up the first blue prints in our minds. The what if is the best part of building a rig and seeing just how fast and for how cheap you can do it...LOL

Body tub extras will include M998 Humwv seatbelts, side and rear handles off a 1942 Ford GPW a paint spread of Flurecent orange with glossy black tiger stripes.

A modified version of the M151A2 ROPS (Roll over Protection sytem will be the final installation besides the seats.

Fuel sytem delivery system and design is secret and off limits at this time.

Detailed with FORD RACING, G-503and local North Texas small buinees stickers..., and other good cause decals like Fight Cancer and Fight HIV/Aids...All non Prophit and we are still zero sponsered Team.

In other words no one takes us serious and would not give us a penny!

We never asked for money just good deals on parts.
