Valvoline Premium Blue Diesel Engine Oil

I was in Autozone last night picking up an oil filter and I saw that Valvoline has a 15W40 Diesel Engine Oil. Has anyone tried it? I think they make a 05W40 synthetic also.

I used to run Valvoline Durablend in my 1992 F150 gasser and finally sold her with 247,000 miles on the ticker. So I am willing to give them a try on my 2004 6.0L Plus this stuff is supposed to control the soot better. That is their whole marketing scheme anyway.

I was just wondering if any of you had any experience with it. Let me know.

I use it (15/40) in my '01 7.3L. I've never thought of using anything else. I change my oil religiously at 2500-3000 miles (1.5-2 months) and have never had a carbon or sludge issue. Some say it's junk, I say I like it.

use 15/40 only, unless you want problems. namebrand does not matter too much. 6.0s dont like other weights that i have seen

Here is some product info from Valvoline:

Reduced oil filter restriction at high soot levels
Higher TBN level and wear protection for long-life performance
Balanced formulation helps maximize engine durability

Yesterday was the first time I have seen it. Basically for the life of my 04/04 F250 (just turned 30,000 miles yesterday), I have been running Mobil Delvac 1300 (15W40) without any major problems.

There is some verbage on the gallon jug that mentions something about extending oil change intervals to 10,000 miles. I personally wouldn't do that, but does the higer TBN level make this oil a "tweener" between running Dino and full synthetic?

The MSDS on this product states that it meets CI-4+ and CI-4 requirements. It does not state that it is certified. For those that have seen the bottle, does it have the certification seal?

I have used it since day one. No problems at all. And I don't care if its certified. But if I had to guess, I would say it is. Too lazy to go and look. I know it says it is the preferred oil of Cummins on it.
