3.8 engine swaps

Anyone know what year 3.8 will swapp directly to a '96 T-bird. Seems like there was a change around 96. Sorry for the typo in the header.

Looking at car-part.com, it seems only a 96 engine will swap in.

Maybe you can swap in a bare block of a different, but close year, but this is getting hairy...

Yup, found that out. Most of the engines I have found have a distributer. Gonna research a bit more to see if I can swap the dis for what I currently have on the car.

You can take the distributer out and replace it with the camshaft postion synchronizer shaft/sensor assembly that is used in later years. If that is indeed the only major difference, then you should be fine.
