Thumbs up The Engine FAQ Thread

New forum members are almost universally in search of the same information...

"How do I get (X) amount of power from my 429/460?"

To help, I went through the last few months worth of threads, pulled out the most popular, and posted the links below. The link labels are the labels from the original threads (mispellings and all).

I have also included a couple of other links of interest, including an online CFM calculator and shortcuts to Jegs and Ford Performance Parts.

Enjoy!
Brad

It would be good to make this a sticky so it will stay at the top. Sure would save answering alot of the same questions over and over.

That's a good idea. Thanks. Be nice if it was easily done to categorize posts in other forums as well.

Is there a quick way of determining whether a 429 is just a 429 or a 429 SCJ ?

429 CJ SCJ Heads the valve cover bolts on intake side of head are drilled through into the intake port because of the large port size. If you know this you don't need to remember casting numbers.
I alway wondered why my 70 429 CJ idled cr@^*y when I was adjusting the valves.
Intakes are taller than stock CJ has Spread Bore flange for Quardjet carb, SCJ has square bore flang for Holley.
CJ Hydraulic cam
SCJ Solid lifter cam
