What's a good, relatively inexpensive pre-pump fuel filter and where would you recommend buying? Thanks.
Hink...i have a Motorguard TP fuel filter. Best filtering out there with the cheapest elements(TP) and easy to find. Call Ralph or visit www.bypassfilter.com

I went to carquest and purchased the filter mount for about 30 bucks and I can pick and choose what filter to run. Right now I have a 10 micron. Do you all think its better to have the pump pull through the filter or push? I havent mounted mine yet.

It should say on the filter whether it is a suction (pre-pump) or pressure (post-pump) type. Most of the filters are suction type though. It depends on the filter.
Just be careful.. I had problems in extremely cold temperatures with the filter catching ice crystals, restricting fuel flow and leaving me stranded a few times.

Was that with the motorgaurd filter? Do you have any recommendations? Thanks.

It may not be the cheapest, but I'm very pleased with my Dahl filter. In my mind, when it comes to the area of filtration, that's one place where I don't want to skimp. I'll pay a little more for a quality filter. It's just cheap insurance.

I went with a Dahl 150, as I plan on bigger fuel upgrades (pump, supply lines) in the future and didn't want to replace it later. A Dahl 100 will work just fine on a stock and somewhat modified engine, ie stock fuel pump & lines and stock injectors. Here's a pic of my Dahl 150 mounted up:
Is that a replaceable element or a reuseable one and what are you using the gauge for. Nice clean mount, I like it!
Thanks! The element is a replaceable 2 micron element, made by Baldwin, which I believe is Dahl's parent company. The gauge is a vaccum gauge. It will give me an indication as to how much life is left in the filter. It's on the outlet side. Once you find out where the truck starts to run bad for the first time, you can take down the vaccum guage reading for future reference of "this is where my filter is clogged."

JT, Nice filter and install! Thanks for the pic. I was hoping to get away with something cheaper... well you know! Think I will probably do something similar.
