Unhappy Wife may kill me if?

That lead on a rebuild 390 and tranny for 750.00 and only 2000 miles on the motor is very tempting. The truck got bent when the guy hit the ditch with it.
If I do this and go get the truck. I will probally put it in my 78 that I blew up the 460 in. I have another 460 that was rebuilt, but seized from sitting and would cost about 2000 to have it reserviced and running. This would be way cheaper.
Problem money now is tight and the wife may kill me. Got other prioritys to take care of.
HONEY WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Yeah 66 if you explain it, I am sure it wont be a huge problem. I mean you never know when you may run across a deal like this again! And you could always sell the bent up truck after your done taking some parts off of it and recover a little bit of cash.

Yes I thought of that also. The cab and box look to be rust free in the before picture of the truck.
Don't get the wrong idea of my wife she will let me get the truck, but she will be the devils advocate about getting it.
The last truck I bought for parts last fall for 300.00 and got 500.00 worth of tires and several other parts I needed for my 85. I then sold the engine for 200.00.
Same thing happened to that truck also.
She will understand the reason, but we need other things fixed around the house.
New wife sure makes a person think about the other person to be included in the decision. If still a bacholor would be no questions asked.

In my case hurray for being married with an understanding wife. Of course at times I do have to explain my case being slightly slanted in the proper prospective! It does help......
Let us know what you decide as some of us maybe interested in the 460 or truck other parts. If the box is rust/dent free it could be worth at least $400.

Parting out the good box has crossed my mind. That would recoop some of the cost. That impresses her, which it did on the truck last fall when I sold the motor. She did not think a person could make money selling the parts.
I will just use the right persausion. She will understand.

Wow I have found you can make a ton off of parts! usually if you wait long enough you can make more then what you spent!

If the body and the cab have no rust, then let me know as I may be interested in the whole truck if you just need the motor.

I contacted the guy today. Got my income tax return. He still has the truck. Since it did not sell he was thinking of pulling the drivetrain and find another truck to put it in. Well I'm to phone him tomorrow and possibly go have a look at it. Going to take a friend with me incase we drive it back.
It has an Edelbrock 4bbl carb, K/N filter, headers and I cannot remeber what was on it for an intake.
The motor was rebuilt at a shop in Swift Current and he still has the bills from that and the warrenty expires this Sept. I'm going to try for $600. He is throwing in another end gate and some truck script also. He said the box was customised. Only thing customised was that the holes on the top of the box were welded up and it is smooth on top. He said the cab is just starting to rust at the back corners and there is no rust on the box.
We will see on Tuesday I guess. The motor will save me coin for my 78.

Yeah 66 that sounds like a damn sweet deal! The truck must not be bent up that bad if it is driveable either.

According to him it is chewing the right tires a bit. He has not taken it on any long trips except from his home to work, which he says is 15kms away. If I get the truck I will take pics and not sure about posting them, maybe for those who request them. Let you know by Tuesday.
