Probably common knowledge but....

I have a 99 F-250 LD 4X4 5.4. My question is, is it the same engine and set up underneath the hood as it is for the F-150. I'm looking to buy a throttle body, and have been searching online, but can not find them for my truck. They are all over however, for the F-150. Thanks in advance.

I also have the same truck (99 F250Ld). Yes underhood area the same as F150. I also notice most parts companies don't refer to F250LD. Brakes, springs, transmission (4R100) rear axle (sterling 10.25) are most of the difference. Maybe someone else can think of something else...

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Does your's ride like a box car in the rear too? My springs are so stiff that when you lift the rear wheels off the ground, and support the frame, there is no difference in where the shocks sit.

Throw a couple of pallets of bricks in the rear... it rides much smoother then.

There's actually other things, like the increased spring rates, larger diameter shocks, and thicker/stronger frame that makes your truck tougher than the F150 it looks like. My 7700 is what Ford eventually called the 250LD from 2000-2004(Heritage).

You have to investigate a bit more for parts, but they do exist... the much gear outside of the 'E' code tranny, the 10.25 rear, and the seven lugs is the same as the F150. If it says "fits F150," there's a good bet it'll fit the F250LD of the same year.

When you call around for parts, specify that it is not SuperDuty. The parts stores' computers have these trucks listed, but getting people to READ is another story!! I think the only time you would need to specify that it's a LD, is if you're looking for chassis/suspension parts, including brakes.

Ya, mine rides stiff in back. It doesn't like washboard roads. Several bags of salt in back work well. But I like it stiff when pulling a trailer. I only have 43K so far. When I see people brag about pulling 9500 lbs with a reg F150 I hope not to meet them on a curve in New England. Mine's 5500 lbs
