Intake upgrade-what is the best kit for dusty conditons?

Would like to install a intake kit, but have heard the K&N is not the best. I drive 4-5 miles of gravel every day to work, so I need a kit that is not bothered by dust/dirt-
Any input is appreciated-thanks

Yes. AIS is designed with dust in mind and is the best at filtering it out. However, if you don't have $200 to spend on an intake and desperately need a better filtering, more reliable filtration system, go for the Kwik filter. It is a HUGE improvement in reliability over the stock box - which is infamous for leaking and ruining turbos and engines.

I am willing to spend that, especially for a good system, now where do you recommend buying one of these?

I like the Kwik filter. The filter was also made with dust in mind. It is easy to check and you can replace it 5 times for $200.

Good point, zx250. Especially when you realize that a GOOD price for a replacement AIS filter is about $75.

Brand new an AIS flows 775cfm compared to about 425 on the Wix46637. It
also holds much more dirt AND filters better. Proved by UOA's. They're both
good choices.

Or maybe I can rephrase Skeet's question:

Can anyone tell me what the Max flow a 7.3 can possibly use? @450cfm the 6637 is a good choice compared to stock, but how much is more than enough?

There has been debate on this subject in the past and it depends on how much you have added to your truck over 'stock'. With the mild mods I have, I feel that the flow of my Kwik filter can more than handle the air requirements I need. Even when pushing 27lbs of boost, my Flow Restriction guage has never budged once, even with 9 months of use on the filter. Just my

Mine either, and I know it works, even running the 100HP tune.

I know there's a formula for gassers, but it can't be right for a turbo diesel.
