Question 1953-59 Ford-o-matic transmissions ?

I have a couple questions on the automatic transmissions. Is it true that Ford started putting Fordomatic automatic transmissions in the trucks starting in 1953? I've heard they were the same from 1953-59?? I have one from a 1957 F-100 connected to a 223 6cyl. IF everything is the same I want to put this engine/trans. setup in a 1954 Panel truck. The front motormount will be changed to a 53-55 setup. What kind of steering column shift linkage do those fordomatics take to make it original? I know this is alot of questions and I sure appreciate any advice you can give on them.

Thank you

Pretty much the same there is a difference between 1 for a v-8 & an I-6.
There are also 2 differents types of 223c.i.er trans, the Aire Cooled version & the Liquid Cooled version. Do you know which you have?
Well I'd believe you could look @ the linkage tht you've already on the '57s set-up, don'tcha know.
