Taillight

I feel stupid asking for help with such a simple task, but I cannot for the life of me get my taillight off of my 98 Explorer. It was so easy on my Bronco, but this is stupid!
Also, the whole reason I am taking it off is because it has a small whole in the top of it and it has filled up with water. After working submerged for several months, the bulb has finally gone out (I am surprised it lasted as long as it did). Anywho, any suggestions for plugging up the whole? I'd rather not do something tacky like duct tape. Something thats not noticeable would be nice.

Open the tailgate and you will remove 2 screws from the taillight and then pull it out. You will have to pull a little hard but it will come.
