Red460 - my 76 F250 with 460, built in California I think also has no smog equipment or cats. I suspect cats came in much later but you'll have to check this out. Don't be too tough on Arnold, anyone (once they've seen the numbers) would probably do the same....

Quote:I just found out something really cool apparently my '76 F-250 XLT Camper Special is commercially licensed or was anyway.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to ask.
What makes it cool ?
Up here a truck getting commercial plates just means it is owned by a company as in part of a Fleet.
Dennis, the rest of Red460's sentence should answer your question
Fang's a CS and back on the road now, well almost, the emission man has got him by the throat. AC blows cold though. I'm trashing the motorcraft 4bbl for something else. Will I get blasted for asking for input on this forum? What the hay. Hoggie, are you still out there? HA!
78 F250 4x4 Camper Special Supercab. Of course it would be hard to get a camper in there now and a long fall to get out. Mine also came with a Dana 60 front axle which wasn't too common. I don't know if that had anything to do with it being a Camper Special or if it had a plow package too.
My dad has a 71 f250 camper special with a 390 and a c6. We drove it for years after the speedometer was unhooked and the previous owner said he turned it over twice. The 390 still runs good but the c6 is shot!!!
Gone Retro
New to these here parts. Hope to learn something. I just bought a '73 F-250 Camper Secial from the original owner. He works at a local Ford dealership and had the 390 rebuilt 12,000 ago. Edelbrock intake, Carter 625, Stans headers, etc. You all know the drill. The C-6 was done at the same time. New 16" rims, Cooper 10-plys, brakes. It's the one I wanted back in high school. Happy boy!
Oh yeah, the paint is four years old. There's some cancer but I figure that it runs good enough to balance that out. I'll be looking forward to yaking with people who know something. I guess I should go figure out how to create a gallery.
79 F-250 Camper Special
460 Holly 750 4 bbl. C-6 Full Floater rear 10 ply 16's on it.
{got rid of those nasty 16.5's}
Owned this truck for 20 years been driving it for 22 years gets 5 MPG Downhill with a tail wind
I can Honestly say in all this time I have never seen one personally that had the same color scheme.
Passes everything but a gas station {with only One gas tank}
That NEVER made any sense to me .
I am the 3rd owner & I know the motor has never been gone into I got it with 60,000 miles on it & I've put 300,000 on it {yup watched it flip 3 times}
Iron worms have eaten the chit out of it the bed is literally held together with plumbers strap & bailing wire .
I'll Find a body & put another 300,000 miles on it!
Gotta Have A/C next time!!
SR66
