EGR Removal - 351 5.8l V8 (H)
Any Info would be helpful -
I own a 1997 Ford F-250HD with the 351 5.8L V8 engine. My question is reguarding the EGR system this engine has. Can you remove the EGR and all of its components including the air pump? If you can will you please give me any instructions or coaching.
Thanks,
Eric

you can remove the smog pump so long as you gut the cat so it dosnt clog. but blocking the egr is sort of a no no. it dosnt hurt the engine to have it on there it actualy helps it. gets the engine warmer when its cold and cools it down when its hot. it dosnt hurt your performance at all when under full throttle because the valve closes at that point anyway.

The reason I want to remove the egr system is because I hate the whole philosophy of it. To reintroduce exhaust gas into an engine is no good in my opinnion, plus i want to get rid of the air pump, which is just another aux. piece of crap in my way. I just like tinkering with stuff also.

Not a problem I hate all the extra smog bs that you have to deal with these days too. Check out this website, this guy has a lot of info and hard to find parts for your project. http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=21
