39.5" tsl bias vs. 39" irok bias
ok i have a 79 f150 4x4 with 6.5"sl and 3"bl, and i cant decide between the tsl bias and irok bias 39's . ive had some 31" tsl bias before on a ranger and know how they ride and wear. ive read here and other forums about people talking about how the wear of iroks are kinda fast, but compared to the tsl bias they may not be, my question is that, people running bias iroks and/or bias tsl, which one performs better and has better manners in the mud, gravel dirt and road, (dont do much rocks in south arkansas). i liked the way my old tsls performed but i didnt know if the iroks may be better for me. i also have a friend with bias STS 39.5s and was curioius how they have performed in mud, (but not mud that would sink a compact truck or nothin, prolly jus up to the hubs). this truck is just a recreational truck so it will not be driven daily or driven to its limits either, just cruzin around the woods

yeah i plan on using 5:13 gears and i have a granny 4speed and a 205t-case. im feelin ya on that call, the reason i was thinkin about iroks was cuz on the interco site the tread width is narrower on the iroks (less bearing wear and stress) but the c.s. measurement is almost the same as the tsl bias. i guess im gonna hafta see some STS's in action to think about gettin some....only because of less gripping stress on the axles bein at's, but i know from experience you cant beat the look of those three stage lugs hangin off the side of some tsl's.

IROKS use a very soft rubber compound, very similar to the boggers. They're designed to be soft and sticky because they were made for rock crawlers. They do NOT last long on the street at all. You know how quickly TSL's show tread, well you'll get a lot more street life out of a TSL than you will the IROK. TSL tread is also better suited to mud. Stick to what you've used in the past.

yeah thats what i was leanin' toward. now i got a friend with some radial irok 37x12.15 tires (4) for 500 dollars, pratically new i could prolly get for 450 or 400 and its a good deal to pass up, but i got a 79 f-150 4x4 6.5" suspension and 3" bl and i just dont want it to look like too small a tire. so now i need to find a truck lifted like mine wit some tires that measure around 36.9 in tall

the 39 irocs arent as well suited to the mud as the tsl, the tsl has much deeper tread and larger tread blocks. you can run 37's on your truck with 4" of lift....you need to run at least 40's, or take the body lift off. The tsl sx is a great tire. the sidewalls are insanly tough along with the rest of the tire. One of the best all around tires out there

so what you are sayin is that with my lift i need to run atleast a 40 or take some lift off to make it not look more like your truck does now?? haha sorry its funny cuz mine looks like that now. because i dont want to spend the money on 38s and not be enough tire. because my tire size will let me know what axles i want to use and how to build them. but i know i want the lifts to stay though. ill try and get some pics of my truck up so everyone can get a pic of it and not just be imagining it. thanks.

prolly a good choice, go with the sx..the 38x12.50 regular tsls are about a 36
the lift thing is all an opinion..jus throw the tires on and if you think its too high take the body lift off, if you think thats too low cut the body life blocks in half and lift it back up 1.5".....
now that i think about it i wouldnt run more than a 38 on that 44 front

I have 39" IROKS radials and they do very well in the mud. They are going on 50K miles and still have alot of life left to them.Im guessing by the late fall ill have to get new ones but I really like them.Everyone that says they dont do well in mud are wrong.I have had these tires on my truck for 2 years and they are awesome.I went with the radials cause its my daily driver. Is this going to be your daily driver?if so go with radials .Any swamper thats a bias tire wont last long.but im really happy with my 39" iroks.I forget who it is but there is a guy on this board who uses the 39" irok bias tires and he loves them.
