Question Wait to start: ding, ding, etc. - dong!

After I get the key in the ignition, I turn it on, hear the dings, wait to start light goes off, then i dont get that higher pitched dong chime, letting you know its ok to start it up. Sometimes it does it sometimes it doesnt. More so than it does. No other problems with truck! Is it the chime device or nothing to worry about?

Is there anything in the owners manual about that? Mine never dings when the WTS light goes out.

Nor mine === unless I am just moving the truck from the shop without the seatbelt and the seatbelt warning starts chiming.

I followed some directions posted in another thread the other day and it got rid of both the seatbelt dinger and seatbelt light. Just some inifo in case you are interested in getting rid of it.

Cool

Its just one solid higher pitched chime that comes on( for a sec.) after the shorter chimes when you turn the ignition on and the wts light goes off. It doesnt keep doing it or anything as im driving . Im trying to ask why i dont get it sometimes when the light goes out. To me it was a sound that i got when the comp. was done cycling and everything was ok. now it doesnt do anything. after the first set of chimes. Maybe im goin crazy or something! Or confusing you guys. Sorry!

I think i can explain it a little better , it is that last higher pitched chime you get , proceeding the shorter ones when you initially turn the key on before you turn the motor over. Do yall get chimes when you first turn your key on and when the chimes stop you get one last chime which is higher pitched?, then you turn the motor over? Maybe im going nuts. at lest thats what the boss says.

Mine does the same thing, four or five short dings and one long one, then wait to start light goes off. Most of the time I listen for the tones and start and don't watch the light. Lately, the temps here have been around 20* and the wts light stays on about 2 seconds longer after the last long tone.

Question

Pbr man, cool, thats what im saying, thAt I normally listen for that last longer tone then crank the motor but lately im not getting that last longer tone? As long as i got someone who can relate to me I feel a little better. But that last long tone still isnt there anymore. Anyone with any experience with this?

Perhaps some of the later models have some different programming. I highly recommend those of you with this ding dong problem consult your owners manual. It's thick and full of small print. It has to be there somewhere if your truck was equipped with it.

Mine is a 99 also, 2/99 date on door sticker. Have quite figured out if 99 or 99.5.
